2007 Fall Pack Hike: Telegraph Pass Trail - Ahwatukee, AZ - 11/18/2007

Awesome Climb - Awesome View - Everyone is a Winner!!!!!

This event was a chance for Cub Scouts in Pack #478 to hike with their families on a beautiful, clear 82 degree Arizona Sunday.  24 people joined in on the fun as we hiked to the ROCK HOUSE ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN where we enjoyed snacks, drinks and incredible views of the valley.

Telegraph Pass Trail has something for everyone, from amblers to serious mountain-bike riders.  While many of the trails in the park originate at the Pima Canyon Road entrance, Telegraph Pass originates farther west, in The Foothills community.

The trail starts into the park with a quarter-mile of paved path. Where the pavement ends, a dirt trail begins a winding ascent of the mountain. It's one more mile up to Telegraph Pass Saddle, where the trail hooks up with the road to the top.

Many residents of the Ahwatukee Foothills Village have discovered that the trail is un-crowded and offers spectacular views.

The Telegraph Pass Trail was created with all levels of physical fitness in mind. The elderly, the disabled and parents with young children can take an easy walk up and back down the paved path in less than 30 minutes.

More serious hikers, joggers, race-walkers and mountain bikers can keep going, aiming midway up the mountain or all the way to the top, or connecting to many other trails that wind through South Mountain Park.
